Whisky tours

If you love Scotland’s national drink and want to find out more about it and of course sample a dram or two, then the Speyside malt whisky trail in Grampian is the only malt whisky trail in the world – and it’s home to more than half of Scotland's distilleries.

Discover the traditions of distilling and maturing Scotch Whisky and the romantic tales behind malt whisky's illicit past, when thousands of small stills were hidden from the king's men. Then of course you can simply stay at the Rox, relax and enjoy a dram in the comfort and splendour of one of Aberdeen’s finest hotels.

Royal Deeside and the Great Outdoors

Just a short drive from the Rox will take you to Royal Deeside, one of the most beautiful places in Scotland with so much to offer the outdoor enthusiast – the magnificent Grampian Mountains, woodlands aplenty and such delightful rural scenery that will prove more than popular with climbers, walkers and wanderers.

But that’s not all. Historic castles and distilleries, the majestic River Dee with some of the finest salmon fishing in the country, excellent golf courses such as Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar in addition to Glenshee Ski Centre, the home of Scotland’s largest ski-centre, then you begin to get a picture of why the North east of Scotland is the perfect retreat for a short break.

Theatre and arts breaks

Aberdeen has a vibrant theatre and arts scene with venues such as His Majesty’s Theatre attracting top productions from musicals, drama and dance; the Lemon Tree with its special atmosphere hosting drama, comedy, music and dance; the Music Hall staging concerts, performances, shows and events. All these venues are close to and certainly within walking distance from the Rox Hotel.

The Rox Hotel is also the perfect place for an overnight stay for concert-goers attending concerts at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, which is only a short drive from the hotel.

Golf Breaks

A visit to Scotland would not be complete without playing some of the finest links golf in Scotland. While the Major Championship golf courses such as St Andrews, Carnoustie, Muirfield, Troon and Turnberry are always high on the list of overseas visitors, many have been astounded at the quality of North-east’s championship links course such as Royal Aberdeen, Murcar Links and Cruden Bay – superb golf courses and not to be missed. There is also the delights and challenge of the Hawkshill course at Newmachar and many other good inland courses worthy of being on your next golf break. Then it’s back to the Rox to relive the glories of the day!
